Good news for you! Indy 4 lost me within the first 30 minutes and never got me back (even though I was trying - almost begging - to get back into it). I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually enjoyed National Treasure 2 more than this movie.

Crystal Skull has taken the "Temple of Doom Syndrome" and redefined it - that is to say that it asks the audience for WAY too much suspension of belief. There is one scene in particular that is insulting to ask the audience to believe. I don't give a fuck if you are Indiana Jones and it is just a movie, you DO NOT survive the scenario in question. I'll put it this way - if Indiana Jones happened to be at Hiroshima or Nagasaki in August of 1945, he would have walked away just fine. Bullshit.

There were parts I liked, particularly the return of Marion and I do like Shia LaBeouf (and his character), but there were just too many moments where I was forced to scrunch my brow and contemplate what I was seeing, trying in vain to figure out how I'm supposed to go along with it. Indy dragging behind a truck is fine. When Indy and his entire party fall off THREE waterfalls one after another and suffer no ill effects other than 5 seconds of bewilderment, I start to roll my eyes a little.

Anyway, this movie will still kill at the box office because it will be like a highschool reunion - it won't matter what's going on, its just good to see everyone again. I'm sure there will be more sequels, probably focusing on LaBeouf since he is now set up as the heir-apparent to Henry Jones Jr's throne - and I do look forward to those movies. I will see the movie a few more times and I will still buy all the merch that's out now, but it will be because just like Lucas, I am running on the fumes of the previous films.

A few of my friends made the obligatory bedroom jokes until they saw it in person. This thing will take chunks out of you (I took a chunk out of my ceiling goofing with it in my apartment). I'm going to run around town and fight crime!!
